Acceptable Use Policy

What you may and may not do with MathsSolve, how we keep the AI on maths and safe for students, how to report a problem and what happens next.

This Acceptable Use Policy is part of our Terms of Service. MathsSolve is used by students, many of them under 18, so we keep these rules strict.

1. Scope

This policy applies to everything you send to MathsSolve — typed problems, photos and screenshots, word problems and "Ask why" questions — and to everything the Service generates for you, including AI output and worksheets. It applies to every user and every account.

2. What is not allowed

2.1 Zero tolerance

These are never allowed. We block them, close the account and, where the law requires, report them to the authorities.

  • Sexual content of any kind, including nudity and sexually suggestive material.
  • Any content that sexualises or endangers minors (child sexual abuse material). We report it to the relevant authorities, such as NCMEC.
  • Graphic violence or gore, and content that promotes or threatens violence.
  • Hate speech — content that attacks or demeans people for who they are.
  • Deepfakes and impersonation — content that pretends to be a real person or misleads people about where it came from.
  • Content that infringes copyright or trademarks, such as uploading a whole copyrighted textbook to reproduce it.

2.2 Other conduct that is not allowed

  • Uploading photos of people, identity documents or other people's personal information.
  • Bullying, harassment, or anything illegal.
  • Trying to make the AI produce non-maths content, or get around our safety checks.
  • Overloading, scraping or reverse-engineering the Service, abusing free credits or limits, or creating many accounts to get more free credits.
  • Using MathsSolve during an exam or assessment where it is not allowed, or breaking your school's rules on AI and calculators.
  • Using inputs or outputs to train or build a competing AI model, or reselling access.

3. How we moderate

3.1 Automatic checks

Every request to an AI feature is checked before and after the AI sees it:

  1. A text filter blocks clearly inappropriate words before anything is sent to an AI model.
  2. A wellbeing check looks for signs that a student may be in danger or thinking about self-harm. Instead of an answer, it shows a supportive message and helpline numbers for their country. This never counts against the student.
  3. The AI model's own safety review. Our instructions require the model to check each request and its own reply, to answer only maths, and to refuse anything unsafe. A refused request returns a short message, and nothing unsafe is shown on screen.

Typed calculator problems are solved by a maths engine in your browser and contain only maths.

3.2 Human review

Reports sent to us are read by a person. We keep a record of each report and what we did about it.

3.3 How serious it is

  • Zero-tolerance content (section 2.1): blocked, account closed, reported where required.
  • Other breaches (section 2.2): content refused; repeated or deliberate breaches lead to suspension.
  • Mistakes in an answer: not a breach — please report them so we can fix them.

4. Reporting

You can report a wrong answer, unsafe content, a copyright problem or any other concern:

  • Report a mistake — the link on each calculator page opens an email to us. Please paste in the problem and the answer you got.
  • Email — write to support@mathssolverai.org. Please describe what you saw and include the problem or page address.

Parents, guardians and teachers are welcome to contact us at any time.

5. Response times

  • Urgent safety reports (a child at risk, sexual content involving minors) are handled first, as soon as we see them.
  • Other reports are handled in the order they arrive.

6. Enforcement

Depending on how serious the breach is, we may:

  • refuse or block the content (this happens automatically);
  • suspend or close the account. If we close a paid plan for a reason that is not a breach of our Terms, we refund the unused part in proportion;
  • report the content to the authorities where the law requires.

7. Appeals

If you think we made a mistake, email support@mathssolverai.org within 30 days and tell us why. We review the decision again and tell you the outcome.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new date and, for significant changes, email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect.
