Cookie settings

We only use cookies the site needs to work. No advertising cookies, and our analytics are cookie-free, so there is nothing to switch off.

The short version: we only use cookies that MathsSolve needs to work. We don't use advertising cookies, and our analytics don't use cookies at all. That's why there's no cookie banner — and nothing to switch off on this page.

What we use

These are all strictly necessary: they keep the site working and fair, and they are never used for advertising.

  • Sign-in session. Set only if you sign in, so you stay signed in as you move between pages. It is removed when you sign out, or when it expires.
  • Free AI allowance (ms_aid). A random code, with no name or email attached, that counts how many free AI solves you've used today when you're not signed in. It lasts for 1 year.
  • Theme preference. Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. This is kept in your browser's own storage on your device and isn't sent to us.
  • Language (PARAGLIDE_LOCALE). Remembers which language to show the site in. It lasts about 13 months.
  • Security. Cloudflare, which hosts MathsSolve, may set short-lived security cookies to protect the site from attacks and automated abuse — for example, after the quick check that you're a person.

What we don't use

  • No advertising cookies, and no advertising networks.
  • No tracking across other websites, and no social media tracking pixels.
  • No cookies for analytics. We use Plausible, which counts visits in total without cookies and without identifying you. Our analytics never include your problems, photos or email address.

Why there's nothing to switch off

Laws such as the UK and EU cookie rules ask websites to get your permission before setting cookies that aren't needed to provide the service. All of ours are needed, so there are no switches here.

If we ever want to add a cookie that isn't strictly necessary, we will ask you first, and the controls will appear on this page.

How to clear them

You can delete our cookies whenever you like:

  • In your browser settings, look for "cookies and site data" (sometimes under Privacy) and delete the data for MathsSolve. In most browsers you can also click the icon to the left of the web address to manage cookies for just this site.
  • In a private or incognito window, cookies are deleted when you close the window.
  • Signing out removes the sign-in cookie.

If you clear them, you'll be signed out and the site will forget your theme and language. Nothing else breaks.
